Greensboro, North Carolina, is widely known as “Tournament Town USA” due its long standing as a preferred destination for major sports events. From the NCAA Final Four and Wyndham Golf Championship to the recently completed U.S. Figure Skating Championships and upcoming NCAA Eastern Regional Basketball Playoffs, Greensboro is an experienced and award-winning host of significant athletic competitions. An important part of the City’s reputation in sports-event hosting has been built in track & field, where the famous Irwin Belk Track at North Carolina A&T State University regularly hosts such major competitions as the New Balance Outdoor Nationals, USA Masters Games Track & Field Competition, State Games of North Carolina, and the AAU Junior Olympic Games Track & Field competition, among others. Greensboro’s Local Host Committee, NC2020, plans to bring this deep experience in sports events in general as well as the community’s expertise in track and field to the table in hosting the USATF Masters Outdoor Track & Field Championships in 2020. Greensboro also enjoys a great reputation for its outstanding sports volunteers. They are experienced, well-trained, and always bring a big helping of Southern Hospitality to every event. In addition, Greensboro offers top accommodations, over 600 restaurants, numerous cultural institutions, and many additional sports and entertainment experiences to round out your visit to the city. The USATF Masters Outdoor Championships will feature athletes ranging in age from 25–100+. Competition in each age group will display their speed, strength, and endurance. Track events will range from 100 meters to 10,000 meters and the long and short hurdles! While field events will include the full range of jumps and throws. Plus there is the pentathlon for combined event athletes! Please enjoy your time in Greensboro and we wish you the best of luck as you get set to compete.
