For Tuesdays with Toyota, we are spotlighting some of USATF's most dedicated members with a short feature on USATF.org and our social media channels. Here is our second feature of the year with 64-year-old retired high school band director Vickie Liddell, a member of the USATF Arkansas Association from Pine Bluff, Arkansas. "I started track for the very first time in May 2019 so I am still new to the sport. One of my favorite USATF memories occurred after returning from a hamstring injury. I competed in the 800 just to be sure I was well. I ran with the high school girls since I was the only female master participating. Thankfully they did not lap me. The love from the fans and officials was great. I have ten children (six of them competed in USATF and were quite successful). Two of my children received college track scholarships, one a football scholarship and two others were on basketball scholarships. Upon retirement in 2019 I knew track and field was what I wanted to do. I want others to know they can enjoy life. USATF has been a blessing in my life. I feel younger and look younger than I did perhaps over 20 years ago. Becoming a USATF member has been one of the best decisions in my life. I love the friendships made. I love the supportive atmosphere. I enjoy watching other seniors race. I love how youthful and young I feel as a result of track and field. I love how our children support us seniors. I am most thankful for the opportunity to compete. It is truly a blessing to have USATF as an option post retirement. I commend the many volunteers and coaches who give of their time talent skills and wisdom to assist not only seniors but youth of all ages. I work hard. I take track seriously. I enjoy it."
