INDIANAPOLIS — Bettering the men's American record for 10 miles* at the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run in Washington, DC, Hillary Bor (Colorado Springs, Colorado/USATF Colorado) earned recognition as the 12th USATF Athlete of the Week award winner for 2023. In defending the USATF 10 Mile Championships title he won in 2022, Bor clocked 46:11 to beat the ratified AR of 46:13 that was set in 1983 by Greg Meyer. The two-time steeplechase Olympian earned $59,000 for his record-breaking run, including a bonus for the AR. Bor, Emmanuel Bor and Biya Simbassa went straight to the front with a rapid early pace, going through 5km in 14:38. Dropping Emmanuel Bor off the back of the lead trio, Bor and Simbassa continued to run in tandem before Bor eased away by the 10km mark, passing in 28:36 with a 13-second gap on Simbassa. From there it was all Bor, and his win elevated him atop the overall point standings on the USATF Running Circuit. Other top performances from last week:
